Geothermal Heat Pumps / Ground Source Heat Pumps

What is a geothermal heat pump (or ground source heat pump) and how does it work?

A geothermal heat pump is a central heating and cooling energy system that transfers heat energy from the ground to (or from in the summer) your Tulsa home. Since the ground is constantly absorbing solar energy, the temperature just below the earth’s surface is always about 50°F. A ground source heat pump exchanges heat between your home and ground instead of extracting it from the outside air (since that temperature is never constant.) A geothermal heat pump system utilizes solar energy trapped in the ground to keep your Tulsa home’s climate moderate all year long.
